Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why should I send my child to horse camp?

Camps offer many great benefits for kids of all ages. For kids that love being outdoors, horseback riding camp is a perfect blend of physical activity and learning lifelong skills such as independence, responsibility, and decision making, all while gaining self-confidence. Check our blog article on this here

  • How can I reserve a spot?

We only accept online bookings. Click on the following button to reserve your spot:

Once you have selected your camp option, you will be first prompted to fill in a reservation form. Then the entire fee will be charged by credit card at the time of booking. You will get a confirmation email soon after the reservation is paid.

Before the camp, we will email you, to the email address that was provided during the booking process, general practical information for the camp, and the Camper Information Form and Consent Agreement and Liability Release to complete and sign. You can either scan it and send it back by email or print it out and provide it on the first day of camp to our staff. All campers are required to have this document completed and signed by their parents/guardians. Please add our email address (info@baileyoaks.com) to your trusted list of senders, contacts, or address book.

  • What ages are the camps for?

All children ages 5 -12 years old are eligible to participate. No riding experience is necessary.

  • Will my camper get to ride?

Yes! Our campers ride every day and get plenty of saddle time. Campers will also learn how to groom, tack, and care for their animals. In addition to riding, campers will participate in a variety of horse-related activities and games on our beautiful 40+ acre facility.

On the last day of your camp, all parents are invited to come to the farm to take pictures of their campers and watch them ride. We anticipate this will run around 1.5 hours. See days and times for camps below:

  • Summer Camps: Friday 10:00 am - 11:30 pm

  • Winter Camps: Wednesday (Thanksgiving) or Friday (X-mas) 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

  • What does my camper need to wear or bring?

    • Campers need to wear closed-toe shoes, but we do not recommend expensive sneakers as they will get dirty in the riding arenas and around the farm. There are a lot of activities in the dirt, and sometimes our campers step into something that isn't dirt... Shoes with a small heel, such as a boot, are preferred to keep feet from slipping in stirrups. Students may bring a change of shoes if they don't want to wear their boots all day. Absolutely no sandals, flip-flops, or other open-toe shoes will be permitted.

    • We have plenty of covered areas and activities for a rainy day, and the riding area is covered, but around these areas can get muddy. If you are concerned about your campers' footwear getting really muddy, we suggest bringing a pair of inexpensive rain boots to change into on these occasions.

    • Please send your camper(s) with long pants as those are required for riding (riding pants, jeans, sweatpants, yoga pants, etc.). However, campers can bring and change into shorts to participate in other camp activities.

    • We provide all the rest of the gear, including helmets.

    • Campers need to bring a sack lunch and a water bottle each day.

    • Sunscreen and a hat are also recommended. Your camper is welcome to bring additional sunscreen to camp to re-apply throughout the day. Bug spray is also suggested.

  • How many campers attend each week?

To ensure that each camper gets personalized instruction and a lot of riding time, we keep our camp size small.

  • Can my child sign up for more than one week?

Of course!  Attending more than one week is a good way for campers to continue to improve their riding skills and make new friends.

  • What time does camp start each day?

Camp begins promptly at 8:00 am each day, and you can drop off beginning at 7:50 am. Likewise, we'll end promptly each day, so please plan for pick-ups at 1:00 pm. (For summer camps: half-day at 1:00 pm and full-day at 5:00 pm)

  • Can I get a refund?

For cancellations made up to 30 calendar days before the starting date of your camp week, you will receive a 50% refund.

For cancellations made less than 30 calendar days before the starting date of your camp week, there is no refund. However, we can work with you to check availability for other camp weeks if there is available space.

If your camper cannot attend every day of his/her camp, the cost of the camp does not change.  We have both covered and uncovered riding arenas, so we ride in any weather – rain or shine.

Cancellations may be made by phone (281) 756-7254 or via email info@baileyoaks.com

  • I registered my camper, but I would now like to change which week they are registered for. How can I do that? - for summer camps only

Contact us and let us know the week you would now prefer. If there is a spot available, we can make the switch for your camper at no charge.

  • Is there anything else that I should keep in mind?

A few days before your camp session, we will contact you with practical information at the email address that you provided during the booking process. Please make sure to add our email address (info@baileyoaks.com) to your trusted list of senders, contacts, or address book so that you can receive our emails and avoid being marked as spam.
