Horseback Riding Camp – Frequently Asked Questions
-
How can I reserve a spot?
You can reserve a spot at one of our camps here:
Once you have selected your camp option, you will be first prompted to fill in a reservation form. Then the entire fee will be charged by credit card at the time of booking. You will get a confirmation email soon after the reservation is paid.
Before the camp, we will email you, to the email address that was provided during the booking process, general practical information for the camp, and the Camper Registration and Release Form to complete and sign. You can either scan it and send it back by email or print it out and provide it on the first day of camp to our staff. Please add our email address (info@baileyoaks.com) to your trusted list of senders, contacts, or address book.
-
What ages are the camps for?
All children ages 6 -12 years old are eligible to participate. No riding experience is necessary.
-
Will my camper get to ride?
Yes! Our campers ride every day and get plenty of saddle time. Campers will also learn how to groom, tack, and care for their animals. In addition to riding, campers will participate in a variety of horse-related activities and games on our beautiful 40+ acre facility.
On the last day of camp at noon, all parents are invited to the farm to take pictures of their camper(s) and watch them. Campers will show the new riding skills that they have learned during the week.
-
What does my camper need to wear or bring?
-
Campers need to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, but we do not recommend expensive sneakers as they will get dirty in the riding arenas and around the farm. There are a lot of activities in the dirt, and sometimes our campers step in something that isn't dirt... Shoes with a small heel, such as a boot, are preferred to keep feet from slipping in stirrups. Absolutely no sandals, flip-flops, or other open-toe shoes will be permitted. We provide all the rest of the gear, including helmets.
-
We have plenty of covered areas and activities for a rainy day, and the riding area is covered, but around these areas can get muddy. If you are concerned about your campers' footwear getting really muddy, we suggest bringing a pair of inexpensive rain boots to change into on these occasions.
-
Campers need to bring a sack lunch and a water bottle each day.
-
Sunscreen and a hat are also recommended. Your camper is welcome to bring additional sunscreen to camp to re-apply throughout the day. Bug spray is also suggested.

-
How many campers attend each week?
To ensure that each camper gets personalized instruction and a lot of riding time, we keep our camp size small.
-
Can my child sign up for more than one week?
Of course! Attending more than one week is a good way for campers to continue to improve their riding skills and make new friends.
-
What time does camp start each day?
Camp begins promptly at 8:00 am each day and you can drop off beginning at 7:50 am. Likewise, we'll end promptly each day, so please plan for pick-ups at 1:00 pm.
-
Can I get a refund?
For cancellations made up to 30 calendar days before the starting date of your camp week, you will receive a 50% refund.
For cancellations made less than 30 calendar days before the starting date of your camp week, there is no refund. However, we can work with you to check availability for other camp weeks if there is available space.
If your camper cannot attend every day of his/her camp, the cost of the camp does not change. We have both covered and uncovered riding arenas, so we ride in any weather – rain or shine.
Cancellations may be made by phone (281) 756-7254 or via email info@baileyoaks.com
